Final Cut- Film Opening

Image
For our final cut of our film we ended up not changing anything from our second cut. After peer review, it was decided that we had editing it to the best of our ability during our last editing session and there was nothing to add. This project ended up being something I am very proud of and I believe my group and I worked extremely hard to get it to where it is. Through the entire process of researching, scripting, filming, and editing, our teamwork prevailed.

Second Cut of Film Opening

This week my group took our first cut and used feedback from our peers to try to get it to its final form. There are still small parts that will most likely need revised but for the most part, me and my group are extremely pleased with what we have created.  Cameron had the role of editor for this film so she was the one making most of the changes. After seeing the first cut, we spent a lot of time deciding what needed to be fixed. For example, we switched the order of a few clips to create a smoother storyline. Along with that, we shortened a lot of the clips in order to build suspense. Our peers had some comments saying that the scene of the clown walking up the stairs lost a lot of the suspense because the actresses, me, looked like she was actually laughing. By taking this clip out, we kept and improved the serious and scary tone we were trying to create. Cameron added eerie music to the background in order to further this tone.  One of my personal favorite differenc...

First Cut of Film Opening

This week my group and I met up to film our movie. We met a few road bumps along the way but we managed to work around them. For starters, we had originally planned on meeting on Tuesday after school, but due to the rainy weather and our outdoor shooting spot we couldn’t film. On Thursday, we spent our time after school preparing by going over lines and getting our costumes ready. My role in this movie is playing the killer clown, and due to our inability to find a clown mask in time, I ended up doing clown makeup on myself. The makeup along with fake blood and wardrobe took me around 2 hours. Once we all arrived to our shooting site, we came across another issue. We had planned on using the parking garage elevator for a big part of our movie. However, we came to find that the parking garage we had chosen had no elevator. We couldn’t go to a different location because this was the only mall that was closed and we knew would be empty enough to film. We ended up adapting our script ...

Portfolio Blog Update #4

This week my group mainly worked on finished the script and figuring out dates that work best for our group to film. We decided we have to film at night which can be challenging due to our school work but we are planning to get the filming process done by this weekend. Through the scriptwriting, we were able to figure out all the different pieces of the film that must come together. For example, I will be playing the clown and the three other girls in my group will be playing the main ditsy girls that our clown is following. Writing the script helped up come up with costume ideas that fit the characters well, such as heels and nice purses. When it comes to props, we have a short list that we need to get before we film. This list includes a clown mask and a knife. The location we chose for our film was a local mall parking garage. From experience, we know that it has the layout that we need and isn't going to be super crowded with shoppers as opposed to other parking garages in our...

Screenplay

Image
For this assignment, my group worked together for three days in order to get it done. We all put our creative minds together to allow our ideas to come to life. By using the screenplay equipment, it made it much easier for us to follow a correct screenplay layout. As the scriptwriter, I was in charge of typing the screenplay. I liked having this task because I now have a deeper understanding of our script and how we will need to film it. I inputed many of my ideas when it came to the clown character because that will be the character I will be portraying. This process was also very helpful for us to take our storyboard and see how well our visions actually fit together. We ended up changing the order of some of our clips and were able to add greater detail to each scene.

Film Opening Storyboard

For this assignment, my group worked together and divided the parts out equally. We all collaborated to come up with our plot and the shots necessary to convey our ideas. We took turns drawing the shots, each drawing three.  When it came to writing a description for each shot, we all worked together to come up with the best option. All in all, I believe we came up with a solid plot that will work to exemplify all the common horror conventions we want to include.
