 Mise-en-scène Case Study Assignment - Activity # 2


 Social Realist Drama


I chose this photo for social realist drama because this genre often contains scenes and actions that take place in the audiences' lives such as a football game. I took inspiration from shows such as All American or Friday Night Lights which could be fit into the social realist genre. 


Horror


This picture would be a good representation of the horror genre because the dark lighting and ominous long driveway give a mysterious vibe that most horror movies try to achieve. 


Romantic Comedy


To me, this picture works well for a romantic comedy genre because the sunset is very pink and giving off romantic tones. Along with that, I also can imagine a stereotypical scene from a Rom-Com taking place on a pier such as this one. 


Sitcom

I chose this picture for a sitcom because normally in sitcoms, there is a common place for the characters to meet that the audience grows to know an accept the characters "spot". I figured for a group of teenagers who live in a tropical area, this restaurant table is a good spot.  


Gangster


This picture fits into a gangster genre because the lighting is dark and the area isn't a clean or busy area. This abandoned construction site would be the spot the gangsters set up as their home base.
 

Western


This picture fits into a western genre because the colors are muted which reminds me of an old western show and there's a big open field I could imagine the main characters riding their horses through. 


Soap Opera


This scene could be in a soap opera because, to me, soap operas always show intimate scenes between to characters in a very common setting such as a living room. This room would fit that same idea and the colors are mainly muted and dark to match the dramatic vibe soap operas have.

The movie uses a lot of special effects and different angles to create scenes that really bring the book alive. Portfolio Blog Update #4

 This week my group mainly worked on finished the script and figuring out dates that work best for our group to film. We decided we have to film at night which can be challenging due to our school work but we are planning to get the filming process done by this weekend. Through the scriptwriting, we were able to figure out all the different pieces of the film that must come together. For example, I will be playing the clown and the three other girls in my group will be playing the main ditsy girls that our clown is following. Writing the script helped up come up with costume ideas that fit the characters well, such as heels and nice purses. When it comes to props, we have a short list that we need to get before we film. This list includes a clown mask and a knife. The location we chose for our film was a local mall parking garage. Screenplay

For this assignment, my group worked together for three days in order to get it done. We all put our creative minds together to allow our ideas to come to life. By using the screenplay equipment, it made it much easier for us to follow a correct screenplay layout. As the scriptwriter, I was in charge of typing the screenplay. I liked having this task because I now have a deeper understanding of our script and how we will need to film it. I inputed many of my ideas when it came to the clown character because that will be the character I will be portraying. This process was also very helpful for us to take our storyboard and see how well our visions actually fit together. We ended up changing the order of some of our clips and were able to add greater detail to each scene.
